For much of the last decade, British Columbia has been a net importer of electricity. We’ve depended on other jurisdictions to supply up to 15 per cent of our electricity requirements. That is why BC Hydro is looking for innovative ways to help meet B.C.’s future electricity needs.

The first and best way is through conservation and energy efficiency. We are also buying more renewable energy from innovative power projects around the province, reinvesting in our existing hydro assets, and exploring new resource options. Site C is one option being considered.
