Burnaby North Road Business Improvement Association (BNRBIA) is a not-for-profit organization that represents about 250 businesses and property owners along North Road in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. The BNRBIA was formed in 2009 to improve the attractiveness of the area and help promote it as a good place to shop, visit and do business. The Burnaby North Road BIA is committed to business development, promotion of the district, and the overall vitality of the area.
Responsibilities:
BNRBIA requires an Executive Director, responsible to the Board of Directors. This part-time position will oversee all day to day operations of the organization. The position requires a flexible individual with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be highly organized, self-motivated and possess basic computer skills. Knowledge of municipal government structure and operation is an asset. Marketing and promotional experience is an asset. Knowledge and familiarity with the operations of a BIA is a plus. The Executive Director duties include but are not limited to:
• Managing the BIA office; • Increasing awareness of the BIA and its members; • Maintaining on-going communication with members to encourage their participation; • Work with all levels of government, RCMP, ICBC and other community partners to improve the area; • Undertaking research on issues affecting BIA members; • Maintaining an up-to-date database of BIA members; • Representing BIA in the Evergreen Line construction process; • Collaborating with stakeholders in implementing community economic development initiatives; • Promoting and organizing special events; • Carrying out safety initiatives throughout the BIA; • Facilitating Board meetings; • Overseeing the content of BIA website and other communication tools; • Ensuring effective management of annual budget; • Securing additional funding for BIA projects, events and programs; • Participating with Directors in annual Strategic Planning, including budget development and carrying out annual work plan.
This position is part-time with a highly flexible work schedule. The salary is negotiable based on qualifications, experience, and availability to a maximum of $40,000 annually. Résumé and covering letter, and any inquires about this position, should be emailed to
